Cash Register Jonesing

All of a sudden my child who was Anti New Toys is all about her (bulging) birthday wish list. Anyone have a good cash register suggestion? Sy really wants this one from Learning Resources. One of her pals has it and I’ve watched five kids simultaneously go bananas for it. But it’s expensive! It lights up! It has batteries! Do we really need all of that in our play kitchen?

Camille had one from PBK that had a microphone where you could call for “check out on aisle six” or “price check on checkout one, please!” and it was a hit for years (heck, we still have it and noah loves it now). they don’t make it anymore and the current pbk one doesn’t look like any great shakes so check these out:
