Contact Paper Heart
Posted by Missy W. @ 5:37 PM
So we made our hokey homemade “stained glass” heart yesterday. Sy loved making it.
Directions after the jump.
1) Cut a 12” by 18” piece of clear contact paper.
1) Fold it in half with the backing still in place.
3) Open it back up and peel the backing off.
4) Place on table (sticky side up).
5) Hand over punched out hearts or whatever decoration you want to your kiddo and let them place them on the sticky paper.
6) When your child is done decorating, refold the paper in half again. Make sure you begin to flatten the two sides together starting at the seam is so that there are no air bubbles. Be patient. Mine has a lot of air bubbles from my lack thereof.
7) Cut the contact paper into the shape of a heart.
8) Take a regular hole punch and punch a hole at the top of the heart and then slide a piece of ribbon through it. Of course, the ribbon you see in the picture is not the ribbon we used because Sy insisted that it was in fact, a new leash for her Angelina Ballerina mouse, not the heart. So I pulled out some red curling ribbon and used that instead.
Sy and her pals loved putting their cut out hearts on the sticky side of the contact paper. They actually sat still for about eight minutes doing it, I was impressed. Once they were through and had run off to burn down the living room, I did steps 6 through 8 without them.
Sy oh so proudly presented her heart to her Dad and then they hung it on the window together. Definitely left a lump in my throat.
Necessary items:
Clear contact paper (you can get it at Target, etc)
Heart hole punch or a lot of patience to cut out all those hearts
Construction paper
Hole punch for ribbon
12” piece of ribbon
Happy Valentine’s Day!
