Giveaway Time! Paper Shouts

It’s GHM Giveaway time!
This GHM Giveaway (and 10% off coupon code!) is sponsored by Paper Shouts, one of my favorite new note card lines.
See contest details after the jump. This contest is now closed. Congrats to winner Kat!

Today, Paper Shouts, provider of posh notes for life’s big moments announced that a percentage of their proceeds from holiday cards will benefit Our City Forest (OFC) , an organization created to cultivate a greener, healthier urban environment and a renewed sense of community through planting, and care of the urban forest. To help spread the word about the contest and giveaway, Paper Shouts would like to offer our readers a $50 gift certificate that can be used to purchase any paper goods – holiday cards, birth announcements, party invitations, personalized note cards, etc. Paper Shouts’ holiday cards are made of 100 percent Post Consumer Waste (PCW) recycled paper. Working with OFC will help support Paper Shouts’ mission - being eco-friendly as well as socially aware.

How To Enter:
GHM readers need to go to Paper Shouts and note on OUR site which holiday card you like best as well as note your favorite green initiative, product, or green tip.
Winner will be selected at random.
In addition, Paper Shouts is offering our readers 10% off on all holiday orders. Promotion code: gearhead
Just enter a comment below (after visiting Paper Shouts), and make sure to enter your email so we can contact you when you win (it’s never shared, sold, rented, nor will others be able to view it).
Contest ends Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at midnight PST.
Contest is open to U.S. residents only.  See here for full GHM Giveaway rules.

Thanks for entering! Good Luck! I can’t wait to order some cards for myself!

I like the “traditional” card featured in part because the message is the all-inclusive “Happy Holidays.”  They are lovely cards!

My current fave way to be green/go green is to patronize local farmers for produce—ordering from a nearby organic farm and purchasing goods from our Farmers’ Market.

I love “Green Ornament Swirls” from the vintage line.

My favorite green tip is using vinegar and water to clean just about everything in my house.  It’s cheap, effective, and so safe!

I’m liking “little drummer boy” because this year I’m trying to combine birth announcement and Holiday card.  my fave green tip…living in Portland, OR.  It’s a great environment to learn and practice all sorts of earth-friendly ideas.

I like the Hannukah Showflake… it says holiday without being red and green.  My current “green goal” is to reuse as much as possible. It’s amazing how much we throw away that could be used again in a new way.

I like the Christmas Snowflake card. Lots of cute cards!
And my “green tip” is using my own bags while shopping. It’s an easy way to help the environment.

It’s a tie between the Gingerbread man and the Holiday Swirl, not sure how to integrate birth announcement with holiday card… My green tip: making my daughter’s lunch ‘no waste’. A weekly challenge…

Clearly a (few) steps above what I’ve had in the card drawer. These are lovely!

Sorry - hit send before I finished…

My favorite is Holiday Swirl.  My favorite green tip is how easy it is to get rid of all the ‘bad’ plastics in the house.  Once I did my research (thanks to Gearheadmom.com), I got rid of or replaced every plastic thing in our house.  Very liberating!

I like Spruce Christmas Tree.  My most recent favorite green tip is Shaklee Get Clean cleaning products—the company has a zero carbon footprint, all the products are uber-concentrated (one bottle of basic H2=5,000 bottles of Windex), completely non-toxic (child can drink them), and made of biodegradable, natural ingredients.  The packaging is all BPA free.  Only drawback—multi-level marketing company.  Have to buy through a distributor.

I love the Two Photo Christmas Tree card. I just have the cutest photo of my twins that would be perfect for that card.

Hmmm….everyone has used up the green tips that I like best.  I think the biggest way I’ve tried to go green this year (and, I fully admit, it’s not possible for everyone) has been switching jobs so that I’m not commuting 30+ miles each way. Now I work at a school a mile from home and instead of driving, I walk to work.

Outside of that, I love the new swirly CFLs because they are both a good green item and because they save $$.  Being in the parched west, a big issue is water so I’ve been trying to take shorter showers.

Whoops, I forgot the “green tip”.  We recycle, of course. And use canvas bags for shopping.  I also used cloth diapers, although we are just getting away from using them now!
