Great Tips From Reader John

I love it when my readers send me great ideas. Keep ‘em coming! So thanks to reader John for not just one great tip, but two:

We took part in the Toys R Us Cash-For-Clunkers program this weekend. We turned in an older stroller that my wife detests and got a 20% in-store rebate. We ended up buying a nice double stroller for the girls (which we were going to buy anyway, rebate or not). The most current Babies R Us mailer sent also included a coupon for 15% off another item. All told we saved just under $50.00. Very nice!

Also, I’d like to give a quick shout-out to Retailmenot. I am consistently finding quick and easy ways to save a buck, be it on rental cars, electronics, or diapers. This weekend I saved $20.00 on the purchase of a car stereo at Crutchfield just by searching through retailmenot’s coupon listing. [I should mention here that my daughter’s kindermusik CD has been stuck in my stereo for almost 6 months. Recession or not, you can only go some much time listening to the Kindermusik Hello Song before any deal for a new CD player is a good one!]
