High Chair Suggestions?

High Chair Suggestions?

One of our Twitter followers, @lynhuffman, asked me what my favorite, affordable high chair is. In all honesty, I loathe high chairs. We don’t use one. We just use one of those little attachable chairs that fit over an existing dining room chair. $19.99, easy to clean, easy to take with us to Grandma’s (although she has one, too). We actually have two since we so often have other kiddos over for dinner. Love them.

So anyway, what are your thoughts, fabulous readers? Any favorite high chairs to suggest to Lyn?

Thanks!

We have the Chicco Polly chair from BRUs.  At $150 it’s not too cheap, but the less expensive options either had tough to clean fabric or too many crevices.  Likes: material is easy to clean, reclining for the occasional bottle, folds up very skinny for stashing away (note to self: do this more), good height for seeing the kitchen world.  Dislikes: wheels sometimes scratch floor and are difficult to move, most upright position is still a tad reclined, trays are way too big for any dishwasher I’ve seen (but my husband voted for the bigger trays as less food ends up in the crevices or on the floor).  Overall, I’d rather not have a big bulky piece of furniture like this in my kitchen, but it comes in handy.  Also have the chair type GHM spoke of and love that for traveling if you don’t have to anchor it to a nice cloth dining chair AND one that clamps onto a table (Phil&Teds;) if you don’t have a nice expensive wood table (great for picnic tables!).

My mom bought us the Fisher Price Space Saver high chair, which is about $55-60.  We looked at more traditional high chairs, but I’m glad we have this one. It’s wonderful to travel with, though it is a bit large. I like the 5 point harness, the tilting chair (nice when S was a little guy), and the fabric is really easy to clean. It also converts to a booster.

I like the Ikea Anteloop chairs.  They are all compact, plastic so they wipe down easily and are only $27!!!
