So this gift is a little over the top, I’ll admit. One of Sy’s pals has one of these Galt “Nursery Folding Trampolines” and it’s just too much fun. I figure Sy will be going stir-crazy from being so housebound the first few weeks of new babydom, why not get her something that helps her get her ya-yas out? We haven’t purchased it, but wouldn’t it be cool to come home to your own personal gymnasium after visiting the interloper at the hospital? Nothing shouts I’M A BIG GIRL like careening off of a trampoline at an alarming clip.

Sy and her pals tend to argue over turns a lot. Hours of entertainment. OK, well, maybe 15 minute stretches of entertainment AND exercise. Nobody’s broken anything yet, so they keep on jumping. Let’s be clear, the folks at Galt say one kid max (77 pound maximum), but I’ll be the first to admit Sy does her share of tandem jumping with a pal. When have I ever read the instructions before I let my kid play with a toy?

The trampoline measures at about 33 x 33 x 33, so the footprint is not completely ginormous. And when you need to clean the house for that biannual dinner party and pretend that your living room is not actually a jungle gym, you can unscrew the handle and fold the legs and slide it right under the sofa (if you have a deep sofa, that is).

The trampoline comes with an easy grip handle to encourage children to exercise and keep fit. It’s true. Sy will bounce on this thing forEVER. How great for rainy winter afternoons. Suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, the trampoline has a tough weatherproof mat and tubular steel frame with a durable coated finish. It also has a padded cover around the mat that cushions the frame and prevents your daredevil from stepping through the bungee cord.

Snapshot:
You can unscrew the handle, fold the legs down and slide it under a bed or sofa. Talk about easy cleanup.
Your little gymnast will still fall off half the time and have a good time doing so. It’s not that far to fall. Galt says it’s so special because it’s safety approved. But, um, yeah, your kid is still going to fly off. It’s part of the fun. Just don’t set it next to a glass table.
It ain’t cheap and it’s a crazy purchase to make, but man, do they have SO MUCH FUN.
It gets 4 smiles mainly due to price (although you can definitely find it online for less than the MSRP of $136.00).

My son has autism, and this has proven to be a great tool to help his sensory system…and his little brother loves it too!
