Gearhead Mom

I am a toy gearhead. I am a mom. Therefore, I am Gearhead Mom. I review the good, the bad and the (often) ugly in the world of baby and childhood gear.

You should have a set of Crayola Window Markers even if you don’t have kids, and particularly if you have a big front picture window. You can make your birthday announcements, holiday nods, political statements, poetry, etc. and write important messages on the mirror for your spouse!  Ha!  A new washable spin on lipstick!  But then, these are really for your kids, and let’s face it: there’s nothing like writing on the window to make your child feel like s/he’s doing something risqué.

I recommend these for parents who have windows that are child-height, and French doors are the best, because they offer panes as separate frames. The markers are perfect for older siblings of newborns, as birthday presents, for rainy days. The best news is, these must be the most washable of the Crayola washable marker line—I warned my daughter NOT to draw on the French door window frames, but even when she (inevitably) did, no problem!

Snapshot:
• Certified non-toxic
• Cleans easily off of windows, mirrors, kids and most of their clothes. I asked Jenny if the markers come off the walls, but her darling children have yet to attempt more daring forms of graffiti art.
• Affordable fun for inside play days.

Ed. Note: As I was perusing the Crayola site to see if they had an age range for these markers (they didn’t list it on the site), I came across the following item: Crayola Washable Multicultural Broad Line Markers is an assortment of ethnic-sensitive color palette. How cool is that? And how far have they come from Burnt Sienna?

I took the liberty of writing on my own walls with Window Markers last night (not while my kids were watching, mind you).  And then was distracted on my way to the kitchen for the sponge…forgot until this morning, when the green line on my wall caught my eye.  Good news!  Washed right off.  Yay for Window Markers!

One more comment from the window marker lady:  I saw that they now have MEGA Window Markers in the Crayola lineup—these are particularly good for writing a message to passersby on your front window!  Happy Halloween!
