Going Cuckoo for This Clock
Posted by Andie V. @ 12:15 PM
IKEA is now selling one of the best kid clocks on the market. I don’t think they realize it—because it’s not in the kids’ section—but it’s perfect for my son, Max, and is saving my marriage.
Max, who has been getting up at 5 a.m. since his birth 4 1/2 years ago, normally wakes us by ramming his body into our door until its hinges become loose. We’ve hired a handyman twice to fix it. Enter the IKEA Slabang. Wrapped around the digital readout is a thick synthetic rubber body—perfect for my child who has a tendency to knock things over or throw them. And the best feature is the alarm itself, which gives you the option of recording your voice. Ours says, “Max, it’s 6:30 in the morning. It’s OK for you to wake up Mommy and Daddy now.” With a little incentive chart—he gets a reward if he doesn’t wake us up until after his alarm goes off five days out of the week—Max has been letting us sleep in. The best part is, it’s been training his body to wake up at a different time. For the last week, he’s been waking up at 6:15, even with the time change. Miracle? Maybe. Dreamy? Definitely!
Snapshot:
-This clock gets four smileys instead of five because the user interface isn’t 100 percent user-friendly…but what alarm clock’s settings are?
-Slabang is battery-operated, has a background light so you can see the time in the dark and a snooze function; the alarm signal is repeated every five minutes.
-It’s teeny-tiny! Only 4 ¾ ” w x 2 ¾ ” h. Perfect if you want to leave it in bed with your child.
-Sadly, this clock is not available to purchase online.

I’m sure you can find out how to buy the alarm clock online somewhere, it looks like a great buy. I like the fact that it’s small and you can put it anywhere in your room. This will be a great gift for my daughter.
