OK, so since I’ve been hit with writer’s block, my Auntie CC wrote her first review for me. CC is grandmother to Baby Jack, my cousin’s totally fabulous one year old. So without further ado, I leave you with her first report from the tales of grandparenting. Thanks, Auntie!

Grandma C C signing in…
I have found the ANSWER to being a sane and responsible grandmother. The Superyard XT is a 26” tall, 18.5 sq ft safe play area. Additional panels can be added. Great for indoors and out.

Pa Pa and I were babysitting Baby Jack as he had just perfected scooting (like lightning). It was so cute that after two hours of such joy, Pa Pa and I were on the internet taking turns looking up “Play Pens,” that antique item that allowed me to raise two adorable children through childhood sanely and safely.

It became quickly evident that “Play Pens” were too confining and expensive. And yet, the bottom of my pants were starting to wear through since I was scooting around the house in quick pursuit of our crawler, and it was too hard for me to constantly get up and down. Because our house is not fully baby-proofed, we had our share of concerns for the little speed demon. Baby Jack should not need an ER trip on our watch. The Superyard was the ideal solution. It is easy to set up, and adjusts to many sizes and shapes and folds down to the dimensions of one panel. It is light weight enough that it can be easily taken on trips to visit Grandma CC.

When our daughter Shelly got home and saw what we had done, her first comment was “oh I can go to the bathroom and not have to put him in his crib!” It is a fun, safe area for Baby Jack for those brief moments when we have to leave the room. He has plenty of room to play with toys and explore a large portion of the room. There is definitely enough room for an adult to join the child and play, which we do often. Shelly has straightened out the panels to allow safe areas for Jack to explore at her own home and ours. Additionally it has really helped him to learn to pull himself up and down; he can practice his walking holding on to the sides. We have also taken the Superyard to our friends’ outdoor parties where the yard is not completely safe for pre-walkers. He gets to play in the grass without falling off a rock. Talk about an added bonus!

Ed Note: You can buy those extra panels for $26.99 for two. Thanks, Auntie!

I just wanted to add to CC’s article that Baby J is so content playing in his Superyard.  Somehow it is much better than what we used to have, as the baby doesn’t feel like they are in jail. It has a more open feeling. Of course it is full of his favorite toys and when he fusses one of us will get in there with him.  (That is the last resort of course.)  Mom

I think we should listen to our mothers and grandmothers - way to go CC…........this is brillant and I dont understand why more parents dont use them??? I lived in a playpen while my mother cooked, cleaned and had coffee with friends!
