Ikea Love: Mammut Table and Chairs

This one’s written by my pal, AJ, mom of two, soon to be three!
Why I love the Mammut Table and Chairs:
Yesterday we bought the round Mammut table and four chairs for the back yard. Today, eight two-year olds came over for a play date.
Herein lies my love for this furniture set: It’s weather-proof, light rain this morning merely brushed aside. Sand piled on top made for nary a scratch. My 38 pound two year old took the chair, flipped it over and climbed like it was Mt. Everest and it was steady as a rock. Two smaller kids were fighting over a chair until they realized their narrow backsides fit on there together. I’m 8.5 months pregnant and I sat in a chair without watching it bow. It comes in fun, festive colors; has feet attached to the chairs angled for maximum stability; no sharp edges and a hearty table that did not wobble when one toddler’s tantrum threatened to take down the entire plate of snacks.
We painted on it, inaugurated it with crayons, hit whiffle balls directly on it. It was stronger than my son’s grip on his Thomas train.
It took us 15 minutes to assemble the table and four chairs, with ample help from our four year old. The cost is low enough to make us less concerned about damage to the table, which will inevitably come. It works indoors for an activity or eating table and outdoors for all needs. The only thing lacking is a pre-cut hole for an umbrella- but a wee bit of drilling by my tool-obsessed husband will fix that.
Great value for the money and very kid friendly.
Ed. Note:
I have the Mammut table and use it inside as Sy’s art table. I suggest that unlike myself, you actually read the care instructions that tell you to wipe clean with a damp cloth. Use only water or a non-abrasive detergent. Wipe dry with a clean cloth. I’m guessing that means you shouldn’t use some spray cleaner and the green part of a yellow/green sponge to clean the paint off. Mine’s nice and scratched up from this user error, but still looks good enough to keep in the kitchen nook/art center.
In an upset, you can actually buy this table online via Ikea. Woohoo!

I am so glad you love the table. We just purchased it for my 6 year old. However, the screws were not in the box, did those come seperate? Please advise. Sandra
