When it comes to baby wipes, I say go Costco. I don’t even have a baby’s fanny to wipe anymore, but I keep a pack of good old Kirkland specials in each car, in my office, and in several spots in the house—mostly for hands—sometimes for floors or for keyboards in a pinch. And here’s a teacher’s secret: those wipes erase the dry-erase marker shadows from whiteboards! They’re the most economical, best packaged, and least-offensive smelling among the cheap wipes out there. And they’re sturdy enough to do the job.
But now that we have our basic needs covered, let’s talk about Dessert Wipes. No, I do not mean wipes for sticky chocolate-covered hands. And I do not mean wipes that you can eat. Wait, maybe I sort of do.
When I had my second baby, my sister-in-law brought me a purple pack of Lansinoh Clean and Condition wipes. These towelettes are super soft and treated with lanolin, and my sis-in-law noted that you can use them to wipe down your breastfeeding chest when it feels inevitably icky, and it’s safe to then stick your baby right back on the breast. I used those wipes for a personal washdown when other cleansing rituals (namely, The Shower) were unavailable or impractical.
And I don’t know about you, but when I crash out at night before my scheduled bedtime due to pure mother fatigue, sometimes it’s all I can do to brush my teeth. Brushing teeth is a given, but washing the face can actually be a rude awakening. At some point I got in the habit of using those super-soft wipes to clean not only my bosoms but my face as a default. And let me tell you something: those Lansinoh wipes are the best of the bunch in terms of leaving your face feeling baby-bum soft and fresh. I even believe they’re better for my complexion than soap or facial wash and moisturizer. Man, if I only had a wipe warmer, it would be like I’d died and gone to the spa each night…
I let my sister-in-law know about this little secret, and she has become a disciple of this approach to efficient facial cleansing. Now, she has an infant, so it all sort of makes sense for her to have these deluxe wipes on hand, but I have a three-year-old and I buy a stash of Lansinoh wipes for MYSELF. If you come over with your baby, I will offer you the Costco wipes for his/her little fanny. The Dessert Wipes are for me.
Try them. If you break out, heck, I am sorry about that; I didn’t see it coming.
In the meantime, Lansinoh is a small, mother-powered company, right in league with all we want to support and believe in. Along with clean, moisturized, and wrinkle-free faces.

Hi,
I have sensitive combination-very dry skin and I am looking for a facial moisturizer that does not clog pores or irritate my skin. The moisturizer should also act as a base or primer before applying makeup (powdered). If you have the similar skin type, that breaksout occassionally too, what do you use and does it work?
