A friend of mine is pregnant for the first time. She’s sick, she’s tired, she’s in bed watching TV all weekend. Sound familiar?

I was thinking about what I did when I was so very sick when pregnant with Sy. Aside from complaining non-stop, I sucked on a lot of Preggie Pops. They have ginger in them which is an old-school way to ease nausea. I also think just having something to suck on helped me keep my mind off wanting to hurl for at least five minutes at a time. I actually preferred the drops to the pops, because it’s less conspicuous than a huge lollipop sticking out of your mouth, especially if you have not told the world you are pregnant yet. They have a lot of different flavors, such as green apple, mint, ginger, and sour fruit (that was my favorite).

I think it’s a great gift when you know someone is trying to get pregnant. It’s such a long haul, those first few months.

They’re not cheap, but I would have pretty much done anything to make the 24/7 queasies GO AWAY.

If you’re putting together a basket for a pregnant and sick mom, add some berry-flavored gum.  For some reason, it made me feel better during the first trimester, and I chewed it a LOT.  For some reason (ha!), it makes me nauseous now smile.
