Early Literacy Match-Up Puzzles
By Lakeshore Learning
MSRP $9.99
Ages 3 yrs – 5 yrs
Sy’s school has these puzzles from Lakeshore Learning and they are often one of her first stops when she arrives in her classroom.
Here’s why I like these puzzles.
Sy’s rounding the bend towards three years old and her old Melissa and Doug puzzles are becoming a little too simple for her. The bigger, eight to twelve piece puzzles are a still a little daunting, so we needed something in between.
These Lakeshore brand puzzles are each two pieces only, that’s it. So not only are they working on early literacy through sequencing (cow matches barn), but they can learn how puzzles pieces fit together in a less stressful format. Yes, I find jigsaw puzzles stressful. Always have, always will.
Each box of match-up puzzles (Opposites, Color, Before and After and What Goes Together) comes with 20 sets of matching puzzles. That’s a LOT Of puzzles. We only have one puzzles, and I tend to do use it batches. I’ll set ten sets out and let Sy monkey around with them on the coffee table when she passes by. She prefers to work on them for a while and then shove them all in her Diego rescue pack and tell me that she is going on vacation to her grandma’s house. Gotta be prepared for that plane ride.
Snapshot:
I really don’t have any complaints about these puzzles. They are well made, come in a small-ish box, have pleasant pictures and are not overly stressful to a person who fears the jigsaw.
