A Li’l Help From Lil Rinser

A Li’l Help From Lil Rinser

Ed. Note:
Thanks to Jenny for reviewing this item. My daughter is so freaked out by hair washing I’ve long given up even trying in the bath. We are a wash-your-hair-in-the-kitchen-sink household to be sure, so when Lil Rinser asked us to review their product, I was glad that Jenny’s daughters were willing subjects. Take it away, Jen!

Thank you, Lil Rinser, for kindly sending us a sample product to try out on our li’l sensitive bathers!  The day it arrived, I had plans for the evening, so as I headed out the door, I gave my husband directions to give the purple plastic crown a whirl on our girls.

My Baby’s Bathtub Is Primo Stuff

My Baby’s Bathtub Is Primo Stuff

Baby G was not a fan of the small infant tub we had. Sy loved it when she was wee, he loathed it. Cried like a baby every time we put him in it. Turns out he was incensed that he had to be even slightly reclined, which makes sense since the kid has been sitting up since he was four months old. There are things to SEE out there, people. Mainly things like a big sister, whom he tracks like a border collie.

When I finally realized what the problem was, I pulled Sy’s old Primo EuroBath tub out and it’s been bathing bliss ever since.

Kidzkamp Shampoo Rinse Cup. Ennh.

Kidzkamp Shampoo Rinse Cup. Ennh.

This is the sort of product that when I saw it, I thought, YES! Perfect $4.99 solution for our hair washing disasters! I’m totally scooping this up instead of focusing on baby spoons like I should be! But when I got it home, I realized that I would have been way better off spending that particular $4.99 on a latte to fortify myself for the impending bath…

It sounds good enough, doesn’t it? The Kidzkamp Shampoo Rinse Cup “prevents shampoo from stinging your child’s eyes with this clever shampoo plastic rinse cup. Its soft, flexible edge forms a water-tight bond against your child’s head making it easy to pour water and rinse out shampoo without getting it into the eyes. Your kids will thank you.” My kid would do no such thing. My kid wanted to rip that thing right out of my hands and huck it into the trash can. [A few words on Sy’s bath challenges: she loathes getting water on her unless it’s on her terms. Fall down at the lake - throw a hissy fit. Ummm….You are at the LAKE. Lakes are made of water? Get caught in a rain storm - insist on all new clothes and sitting in front of the heater for 20 minutes to dry off. Walk by mom when doing the dishes and get touched by a semi-soaked hand - dissolve into fits and run out of the room straight into the loving arms of a dry towel.]

Your Own Personal Waterfall

Your Own Personal Waterfall

Boon makes the coolest things. (Well, except for the Frog Pod which I found to be mildly irritating.)

Anyway, Sy’s pal Max has the Flo water diverter and faucet cover and I really like it. It’s so much more appealing to me than the usual hippo cover for the faucet. And it’s a multi-tasker! Not only does it keep hands safe from hot faucets, but it also dispense bubble bath for maximum bubbleage in the bath. The water comes out in a flat cascade, so you can rinse hair easily (like my kid would ever get directly under the spout) or just play in the water as you fill up the tub.

Flo is easily installed, you just clamp it over the faucet. It also has an open center so it’s still easy to pull the drain when you are done with bath.
I think this is a great baby shower gift idea. It’s not too spendy ($15.00) and it will come in handy for years to come.

The Ulti-Mat Bath Mat

The Ulti-Mat Bath Mat

This goofily named bath mat is yet another item my pal Micky swears by for bath. I take her word for it on all things water-related since I’m pretty sure her daughter Kara is a direct mermaid descendant; that kid goes nuts any time she sees even a half inch of water. Micky tried out a few different mats but since Kara is such a water daredevil, she needed one that would help keep falls to a minimum. Enter the ultimate Ulti-Mat Bath Mat from One Step Ahead. The giant mat is 391/2"L x 16"W, so it covers nearly the entire tub bottom, eliminating most slippery spots.

Micky has had hers for almost three years now. No stains or curled edges; it still looks great. She washes it in hot water in the machine and sticks it back in the tub.

Micky’s Favorite Bath Toy Hub

Micky’s Favorite Bath Toy Hub

We’ve had the Boon Frog Pod bath toy receptacle for about 2.5 years. I think it’s a mediocre device. Because it’s on the wall, it’s sort of out of sight, out of mind. I forget it’s there (even though it’s huge) and we tend to play with the same four cups and shark we play with every night at bath. Today I went in to get bath ready and the poor ol’ frog lay at the bottom of the tub. The stickum finally lost its stick. It’s pretty easy to get some new stickum, but I’m not sure I want to put it back up. The toys stack up and it startles our guests when they shower, although that’s the fun part.

Micky suggested her favorite - the Toy Hub Organizer Tray by One Step Ahead.

Here’s why she likes it:
