Klean Kanteen Cap Recall

Klean Kanteen Cap Recall

Oh look, another recall. As my friend Andie pointed out - Dontcha just feel bored when a moment goes by without one?

Klean Kanteen is recalling their caps. Appears to be some breakage issues, but nothing major. Nice of them to be proactive. We love our Klean Kanteens!

“For safety reasons and in cooperation with US Consumer Product Safety Commission, Klean Kanteen is recalling the Sport Cap 2.0. Klean Kanteen® has received six consumer reports relating to the spout tip of Sport Cap 2.0 breaking or cracking after being dropped, which could pose a possible choking or ingestion hazard. There have been no incidents of actual choking or ingestion reported.”

MASSIVE RECALL: Children’s Motrin, Tylenol, Benadryl and Zyrtec

Oh this recall makes me mad. Every single bottle in our house was included in this massive recall. How can companies be that careless!?

“McNeil Consumer Healthcare is initiating this voluntary recall because some of these products may not meet required quality standards. This recall is not being undertaken on the basis of adverse medical events. However, as a precautionary measure, parents and caregivers should not administer these products to their children. Some of the products included in the recall may contain a higher concentration of active ingredient than is specified; others may contain inactive ingredients that may not meet internal testing requirements; and others may contain tiny particles. While the potential for serious medical events is remote, the company advises consumers who have purchased these recalled products to discontinue use.”

I’m not sure how much better I feel after they say, potential for “serious” medical events is “remote”. What the hell does that even mean!?

If you do have any of these items, please go sign up for a refund! Kick McNeil Consumer Healthcare where it counts - in the bank account!

Massive salmonella outbreak and the culprit is salami

The CDC is collaborating with public health officials in many states, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and the State of Rhode Island to investigate a multistate outbreak of Salmonella serotype Montevideo infections. Investigators are using DNA analysis of Salmonella bacteria obtained through diagnostic testing to identify cases of illness that may be part of this outbreak.

Britax to Recall Certain Frontier Carseats

I’d tell you all about it, but Jennifer and Jeremiah over at ZRecs have already done a splendid job of it.

Here’s a recap from the Britax recall site:

Mylicon Anti-Gas Drops Recalled

Johnson & Johnson and Merck & Co said on Monday it is recalling about 12,000 bottles of Mylicon infant anti-gas drops in the dye-free variety because they may contain metal fragments.

Yes, I Checked Snopes First

This one is mainly for our Canadian readers -
The latest melamine snafu: chocolate. Just in time for Halloween.

With Halloween fast approaching comes a warning to parents and kids regarding Sherwood brand Pirate’s Gold milk chocolate coins imported from China. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is warning the public not to eat, distribute or sell the candy. It is sold across Canada by Costco and may also have been sold in bulk packages or as individual pieces at various dollar and bulk stores. The chocolate contains melamine which is the same chemical responsible for killing several babies in China, and sickening thousands more.

Mommy’s Bliss - Hold the Bliss

Mommy’s Bliss nipple cream has been 86ed by the FDA. The potentially harmful ingredients in the cream are chlorphenesin and phenoxyethanol. Guess you should go with the whole, “Can’t spell it, don’t use it” approach.

“The cream, promoted to nursing mothers to help soothe dry or cracked nipples, contains ingredients that may cause respiratory distress, vomiting and diarrhea in infants, the agency said.” That’s nice.

Evenflo Recalls Million Infant Car Seats

Evenflo Recalls Million Infant Car Seats

Evenflo voluntarily recalled one million Discovery infant car seats.

Per the AP article, “Evenflo Co. issued a voluntary safety recall Friday of 1 million Discovery infant car seats after tests showed that the seat could potentially become separated from its base in high-impact side collisions…The privately held company, based in suburban Dayton, said it is not necessary for owners of the car seats to stop using them or return them. To order the fastener, seat owners should call Evenflo at 1-800-356-2229 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. EST or visit their site.”

Cranium Cadoo Board Game Dice Recalled

Well here’s a weird one. Only the dice are being recalled. The surface paint on the die contains excessive levels of lead, violating the federal lead paint standard. Better than the whole game, I suppose. Except of course you don’t touch the board and then lick your hands very often. But dice, everyone touches the dice!

eeBoo Tot Tower Blocks Recalled

eeBoo is recalling their Tot Tower blocks after they received two complaints regarding the plastic film covering the blocks separating from the cardboard.

That’s a bummer because Sy loves her eeBoo blocks. I am not going to return them. We’ve had them forever and have had no signs of deterioration (aside from damage caused general banging and throwing, that is). It’s been one of my favorite gifts to give one year olds as well. I hope they get them back on the market soon!
