Well here’s a weird one. Only the dice are being recalled. The surface paint on the die contains excessive levels of lead, violating the federal lead paint standard. Better than the whole game, I suppose. Except of course you don’t touch the board and then lick your hands very often. But dice, everyone touches the dice!
eeBoo is recalling their Tot Tower blocks after they received two complaints regarding the plastic film covering the blocks separating from the cardboard.
That’s a bummer because Sy loves her eeBoo blocks. I am not going to return them. We’ve had them forever and have had no signs of deterioration (aside from damage caused general banging and throwing, that is). It’s been one of my favorite gifts to give one year olds as well. I hope they get them back on the market soon!

The First Years is recalling about 100,000 Newborn-to-Toddler Reclining Feeding Seats, pictures are included in the link.
I must have missed this recall during Thanksgiving week. This recall involves about 38,000 velvet and boa slipcovers intended for use with the Boppy® Bare Naked nursing and support pillow.
Hazard: The zipper pull on the slipcovers can break, posing a choking hazard to young children. In addition, paint on the zippers contains excess levels of lead, which violates the federal lead paint standard.

Spin Master Recalls Aqua Dots – Children Became Unconscious After Swallowing Beads
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.
Name of Product: Aqua Dots
Units: About 4.2 million
Distributor: Spin Master, of Toronto, Canada
Hazard: The coating on the beads that causes the beads to stick to each other when water is added contains a chemical that can turn toxic when many are ingested. Children who swallow the beads can become comatose, develop respiratory depression, or have seizures.
Incidents/Injuries: CPSC has received two reports over the past several days of children swallowing Aqua Dots. A 20-month-old child swallowed several dozen beads. He became dizzy and vomited several times before slipping into a comatose state for a period of time, was hospitalized, and has since fully recovered. A second child also vomited and slipped into a comatose state and was hospitalized for five days.
Description: The recalled toy is a craft kit which allows children to create various multi-dimensional designs using small colored beads. The beads fuse together when sprayed with water. The recall applies to all models of Aqua Dots. The product is available in various different kits with accessories such as a drying fan, applicator pen, design templates for the beads, and spray bottle. The product is labeled for ages 4+.
Sold at: Mass merchandisers nationwide from April 2007 through November 2007 for between $17 and $30.

Remedy: Consumers should immediately take the recalled toy away from children and contact Spin Master to return for free replacement beads or a toy of equal value.
Consumer Contact: For additional information, contact Spin Master at (800) 622-8339 between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or visit the firm’s Web site at www.aquadotsrecall.com
The latest recall is based on head and other injuries due to toppling over: the Bumbo Baby Sitter. They are pulling the current item from the shelves in order to redo the packaging with more stringent safety instructions.
I really did not plan on focusing all that much on recalls, but it’s been quite a week.
Read the article after the jump for the list of cough/cold medicines being pulled from shelves due to overdosing.
I know recalls are not supposed to be amusing, but for some reason today’s offerings made me snort. Not even the Boy Scouts’ totem badges are safe from the ever-present lead threat. Is nothing sacred?
Here’s the latest long list of recalls, including Baby Einstein blocks, wooden toys, Halloween masks, and water bottles to name a few.
The CPSC also released a statement outlining the newest agreement between China and the US regarding the improvement of imported toy safety.
Here’s a great recent recalls list from the CPSC.

I just read about this massive crib recall over on apartment therapy: the nursery. It’s always good to stay informed.
